Popular Meets Classical: music by Astor Piazzolla and George Gershwin

Mei Lin Hii is an award-winning Malaysian pianist of international acclaim, recognised as Outstanding Woman Pianist following her Rubinstein Award in New York. A top prizewinner at major international competitions, she made her debut at Carnegie Hall and has since performed extensively across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Based in Kuala Lumpur since 2010, Mei Lin is known for her dynamic cross-disciplinary collaborations, working with artists ranging from visual and paper artists to hip-hop dancers. Her projects include Sonus Luminus, a light and sound collaboration with lighting designer Jun Ong, and she curates the Troika Sky Dining Real Food and Music Series, partnering with luxury brands such as Dom Pérignon, Hennessy, and Krug.

She trained at the Manhattan School of Music under renowned pedagogue Zenon Fishbein, and further refined her artistry through masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Leon Fleisher, Byron Janis, and Joseph Kalichstein. She also worked closely with Russian piano master Alexis Golovine in Geneva.

An accomplished chamber musician, Mei Lin has been coached by members of the Juilliard String Quartet and the Beaux Arts Trio, and has collaborated with artists from the Metropolitan Opera and leading international performers across disciplines. She has performed alongside international artists such as Joja Wendt, Martin Tingvall, Caroline Fischer, Axel Zwingenberger, and in chamber music with Leslie Tan, Matyas Major, Ergys Koni, William Day, Elizabeth Tan and many more.

Personally invited by Paolo Fazioli, Mei Lin recorded the Goldberg Variations at the Fazioli Concert Hall in Italy, further affirming her standing as a respected international artist.

Mei Lin serves as Artistic Advisor for the Illy Piano Academy and is a guest artist and coach at the International School of Kuala Lumpur. In 2024, she was featured in Women of Power by Prestige Malaysia.
