.🎼 Dancing Keys: A Dual Piano Experience lead by Lee Choon Mon and Chia Li Ting 🎼

Lee Choon Mon is a distinguished conductor and multi-instrumentalist from Johor, Malaysia, known for his dynamic presence in both orchestral and choral music. His musical journey began with prestigious scholarships at acclaimed institutions such as Raffles Music College, Dundalk Institute of Technology, and The Royal Academy of Music. Throughout his academic journey, he received multiple accolades, including the Michael Van Dessel Choral Conducting Scholar Award.

Guided by esteemed mentors like David Brophy and Sir Simon Rattle, Choon Mon developed a distinctive style rooted in expressive interpretation and technical precision. His professional career has taken him across the globe, with formative experiences in the UK, Ireland, Malaysia, and Singapore. A dedicated music educator, he returned to Malaysia in 2018 to join the faculty at Excelsior International School in Johor before taking up his current post as Head of Music and Performance at Wellington College in Hangzhou, China.

  • BBC London Orchestra Recognition: In 2016, he was nominated as “The Best Romantic Period Conductor” by the BBC London Orchestra, in recognition of his powerful renditions of Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

  • Leadership Roles: He previously served as Deputy Conductor of the BBC London Orchestra and is frequently invited to conduct private symposiums with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO).

  • International Performances: Choon Mon has conducted numerous high-profile concerts across the UK, Ireland, Malaysia, Singapore, and China, often collaborating with acclaimed soloists and renowned ensembles.

  • Music Education & Festivals: As an educator and director, he has led various FOBISIA Music events across Asia—including in Indonesia, Shanghai, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia—highlighting his commitment to youth music development and international collaboration.

  • Hangzhou Grand Theatre: One of his most notable recent projects was directing a combined choir and ensemble at the Hangzhou Grand Theatre (大剧院), representing Malaysia on a prestigious international stage.

  • Multi-Instrumental Versatility: Beyond conducting, Choon Mon has performed globally as a skilled instrumentalist, earning respect for his musical adaptability and depth.

Chia Li Ting a Malaysian pianist, began her musical journey at the age of four. Over the years, she has studied under several distinguished teachers, including Yap Mei Teng, Wong Hui Ting, Tan Pei Fen, and Juliette Lai. She holds a Diploma in Piano Performance (FTCL) and Grade 8 in Vocal Studies (ABRSM), the latter under the guidance of Hau Ping Ping.

Her formal education in music includes a Diploma in Music (with distinction) from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), where she studied with Boris Kraljevic and Benjamin Loh. She was awarded the NAFA Entry Scholarship, which enabled her to pursue and complete the Bachelor of Music programme offered jointly by NAFA and the Royal College of Music (RCM), London. At RCM, she was mentored by Dina Parakhina and Benjamin Loh. She has also received coaching in piano accompaniment and chamber music from Lim Yan and Nicholas Ong.

Li Ting gave her solo piano debut in 2013 with “Chia Li Ting’s Piano Recital”, marking the beginning of her public performance career.

  • Accompaniment Excellence: Li Ting has been an active piano accompanist since the age of 15, regularly invited to perform in vocal and violin recitals, music festivals, examinations, and competitions.

  • Awards & Recognition: She was awarded Best Accompanist at both the 35th and 37th National Art Song Singing Competitions in Malaysia, a testament to her sensitivity and collaborative artistry.

  • Competition Successes:

    • Finalist in the UCSI University International Piano Festival & Competition 2016 (Young Artist Category)

    • Finalist in the Putra International Piano Competition 2019 (Piano Solo – Young Artist Category)

  • International Training & Exposure: Through her studies with internationally acclaimed pianists and institutions, she has developed a versatile and refined approach to solo, accompaniment, and chamber music repertoire.
