🎼 Dr. Vikki Chen (D.M.A) | Pianist 🎼

Dr. Vikki Chen has performed in the United States, Spain, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Cambodia, and Malaysia. Recent appearances include recitals at the Kuala Lumpur City Opera Recital Hall, where she performed Chopin’s 24 Preludes and 12 Études, Op. 10, Raffles Hotel in Cambodia, Kingwood Theatre, and the Malaysian Composers Concert Series at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre.

An award-winning pianist, Dr. Chen is the winner of the 2015 Missouri Collegiate Competition and has received top prizes at the Graves Piano Competition, the University of Florida International Piano Festival Competition, and the Zimmerli Piano Competition. She has also participated in international music festivals including the Gijón International Piano Festival in Spain, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Brevard Music Festival, and the Summer Piano Institute at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in Singapore. Her teachers and mentors have included Soyeon Kate Lee, Dr. Wei-Han Su, Julian Martin, Logan Skelton, Jean Saulnier, James Giles, and José Ramón Méndez.

Dr. Chen earned her Doctor of Musical Arts and Master’s degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Soyeon Kate Lee, and her Bachelor of Music summa cum laude from Missouri State University under Dr. Wei-Han Su.

Equally at home in chamber music, she was a member of the winning ensemble in the 2015 Music Teachers National Association Missouri Chamber Music Competition and has performed Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Springfield Emerging Artists Orchestra. Originally from Subang Jaya, she began her musical training at Yamaha Music School before continuing her studies with Ng Chong Lim.

Dr. Chen is currently an Adjunct Music Lecturer at the University of Malaya, serves as Malaysia Division Director of the International Piano Professionals Association Piano Competition, and is an active performer and adjudicator. Her recent chamber music performances include works by Clara Schumann and Debussy.
