His musical journey began with prestigious scholarships at acclaimed institutions such as Raffles Music College\, Dundalk Institute of Technology\, and The Royal Academy of Music. Throughout his academic journey\, he received multiple accolades\, including the Michael Van Dessel Choral Conducting Scholar Award. Guided by esteemed mentors like David Brophy and Sir Simon Rattle\, Choon Mon developed a distinctive style rooted in expressive interpretation and technical precision. His professional career has taken him across the globe\, with formative experiences in the UK\, Ireland\, Malaysia\, and Singapore.
