His musical journey began with prestigious scholarships at acclaimed institutions such as Raffles Music College\, Dundalk Institute of Technology\, and The Royal Academy of Music. Throughout his academic journey\, he received multiple accolades\, including the Michael Van Dessel Choral Conducting Scholar Award. Guided by esteemed mentors like David Brophy and Sir Simon Rattle\, Choon Mon developed a distinctive style rooted in expressive interpretation and technical precision. His musical journey began with prestigious scholarships at acclaimed institutions such as Raffles Music College\, Dundalk Institute of Technology\, and The Royal Academy of Music. Throughout his academic journey\, he received multiple accolades\, including the Michael Van Dessel Choral Conducting Scholar Award. Guided by esteemed mentors like David Brophy and Sir Simon Rattle\, Choon Mon developed a distinctive style rooted in expressive interpretation and technical precision. His professional career has taken him across the globe\, with formative experiences in the UK\, Ireland\, Malaysia\, and Singapore. A dedicated music educator\, he returned to Malaysia in 2018 to join the faculty at Excelsior International School in Johor before taking up his current post as Head of Music and Performance at Wellington College in Hangzhou\, China. BBC London Orchestra Recognition: In 2016\, he was nominated as “The Best Romantic Period Conductor” by the BBC London Orchestra\, in recognition of his powerful renditions of Beethoven’s Egmont Overture and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. Leadership Roles: He previously served as Deputy Conductor of the BBC London Orchestra and is frequently invited to conduct private symposiums with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO).
